I am Tony Tong, a web designer and developer based in Toronto.
Currently I am working at a media product firm, Infinite Media, as a senior user interface developer. My team design and develop corporation internal web sites and web applications in .NET 2.0 environment. I've involved project development for clients like Rogers, Scotiabank, Accenture, Cyberbahn, TTC and other retail industry clients. My job is to provide guildlines on web development standards, and convert creative concept design into functional web sites.
Before I moved to Toronto, I worked at a financial services firm, Ilios Partners LLC, as Programmer Analyst in New York city. My team maintains the company core product called IRNavigator. This Contact Relationship Management (CRM) type of application developed in C# and ASP.NET is specially designed for companies' investor relations' personnel to establish and manage healthy communication with institutional shareholders. Our clients include GE, Comcast, Coca Cola and Yahoo. The main focus of my job is on designing user interfaces and creating new interactive functions based on client requests.
Before I joined in Ilios Partners LLC, I worked as an independent web consultant, while I was pursuing my Master's degree of Information Systems at Pace University in New York.. My clients included various local businesses such as Bluedata International Inc., Lewis and Neales Inc. and Khuraira Makeup. I helped create their business websites by integrating their business strategies into the website design. In addition, I was awarded several contracts by professional media firms including GlobalWorks, Leadership Directories, Career Corner TV Corp, and Group IV Graphics.
Before I moved to New York, I worked for two years as project developer at Virtual University Design and Technology (VUDAT) at Michigan State University. VUDAT was a team of 15 comprised of producers, developers, programmers and artists. We designed graduate level on-line courses based on professors’ requests. My position as project developer at VUDAT was crucial because I was responsible for integrating the different pieces of work created by various programmers and artists in order to structure a complete on-line course. I was also in charge of updating on-line course contents, including lecture video shooting and post production. The subjects of the on-line courses I helped create and maintain were much diversified, ranging from Latin to Criminal Investigation Science to Watershed Management.
While I studied Telecommunications at Michigan State University (MSU) as an undergraduate, I had my first student job at Public Computer Labs providing technical support. MSU had more than thirty computer labs spread around campus, equipped with thousands of PC’s and MAC’s. The job offered me a great opportunity to work with students and professors alike, thus gaining first-hand experience from users’ perspective. In addition, it provided me ample exposure to the latest computer technologies.
